By classic definition, a high-powered midsize automobile, this is the 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Z-16 package. I remember when this model came out, one of my neighbors got one and I was disappointed that the design was derivative of the '64 boxy Impala and not the restyled '65 model. Actually, until I saw this model, I thought the only engines available in '65 was the straight six and the 283 V8. I never saw this Z-16 on the road. Evidently only 200 of these were made so that would explain it. I don't know if that was an arbitrary number or was it for homologation purposes for either the NHRA or NASCAR. Also, I don't think I ever saw 'yellow line' tires either. Anyway, it's a very well done model by Lane.
This is a beautiful model. Once again......what a shame Lane /Exact Detail is not around anymore.

Well, Lane's tooling is still around. GMP (now Acme) bought them and have re-released some of their models.
