For the Making of "You Only Live Twice" shot in Japan, James Bond's gadget car was to be Toyota's brandy new 2000GT sports coupe which was to be outfitted with all the usual gizmology in a Bond movie. The plans came to a screeching halt when 6'2" Sean Connery's head was a good 4" above the top. So Toyota took 2 white 2000GTs and cut the tops off and simulated a tonneau cover that concealed resulting hole. One was filled with the gadgetry at Pinewood Studios, the other stayed in Japan for external shoots. This AUTOart model is the second car that was finally bought back, restored and now resides in their museum.
...such a cool little gem. Nice pics too. 😎 😎
I have this one and the coupe in 1/43 and love them.
Just happen to be app parking behind a 2000GT? I don't think so!
That model is beautiful ! I wish it were the same color as the DB5.
@100ford2003 It was actually painted blue later with a big "007" logo on it for some promotional.
That's a shame. I guess nobody realized what it might be worth "stock" in the future. IMO, that GT looks a thousand times better than almost any 2-seat convertible available today. Along with its gorgeously styled body it has a beautiful cockpit.
