He didn't win it at the casino, but rather auctioning off his 1979 Ferrari 312 T4 #11 in the 2024 Sotheby's Auction in Monaco. The winner will be the first person to drive this car besides Scheckter. He has owned this T4 since retiring in 1980, after a season that saw 9 wins along with the Driver's Championship and the Manufacturer's Cup in this ground effect successor to the T3. It wasn't as fast as the turbo Renault but beat it in handling as sturdiness. There was only one incidence of a failure in all the races that Scheckter and team mate Gilles Villeneuve would suffer as they finished 1-2 in many of the races. With a front mounted blade that looks like it could either take a pedestrian out at the knees or harvest grain, the changes on the T4 included inboard, a widened rear to both accommodate the flat 12 and huge cooling intakes. With changes in the suspension, it also had less drag that its predecessor. This T4 is just one of Jody Schector's zillion dollar F1 collection that includes the '76 Tyrrell P34 6-wheeler.
Model by Exoto.... and it has valve stems. LOL
beautiful model by Exoto. I love this era of F1 because all the cars looked so different. Great last pic, showing off those HUGE rear tires.
Even the old Exotos still stand up to detail scrutiny. Great photos!
I really don't know what I'm looking at - but it looks good! 😎
Excellent post and images, Rich but please change the name of Jacques Villeneuve to Gilles. The father came before the son. Both were great Formula 1 racers.
