After the GT40 Mkll, Ford severed ties with the English partners selling Ford Advanced Vehicles to John Wyers. Ford now used their Kar Kraft subsidiary along with metal experts, Brunswick Aircraft Corp to develop a streamlined body for their J-Car platform using the same 427 V8, transmission and brakes of the Mkll. It was fitted with a tubular roll cage to supplement the honey comb chassis which shattered in a crash killing Ken Miles. Gurney was worried that the resultant car was 600 lbs heavier than the Ferrari 330P4 and how the brakes would hold up. He developed a new style heading into turns by lifting the throttle well before he had to brake. The aerodynamics of the MklV gave the car a speed of 213 mph in the 3.6 mi Mulsanne Straight. 4 MklVs were raced, 2 by Shelby American and 2 by Holman & Moody in the 1967 Sebring and Le Mans 24 hour races, winning both. A total of 6 MklVs were built. I bought one of the Exoto MklVs in Standox Chromillusion Kyalami Flash just because it really shows off the sexy contours.

One more look at the prototype, this one is actually the Sebring Works car, since Exoto redid their web site there is a lot of information that used to be there but is now gone, I was able to pull this information up from my diecast inventory list from when I logged this car after purchasing it:
