Easily one of Sunstar's better non-Platinum replicas. I didn't like their wheel treatment: black painted rims, with thin-ban whitewalls & spinner wheelcovers.
So.... I painted the rims red, made the whitewalls slightly larger (as seen on most every American car in 1961 ) and made "regular," non-spinner wheelcovers.
It's an excellent looking Chevrolet, and a great way to see the USA! 😆
Nice photo set up. The 61 Impala from Sunstar is one of my favorites. I have the red, white and black ones.
It looks wonderful in this image and is a great release from SunStar. I also have a red one and it's a favorite.
Chris, the changes you made make the model much more correct to the original 1/1.
my first car... the 1956 Mercury Montclair tudor hardtop.
Actually Rich, I thought YOUR car look more like my Sunstar, sans the wheelcovers... 😎 😎
@chris When I got the car, it had the full wheel covers, skirts and all the trim. Ultimately, I ditched the wheel covers. painted them black with 'baby moons'. The skirts wound up in trunk and I "nosed" the hood and fender scripts and am still pissed my mother threw out the "jet" and the big "M".
