This 1:18 scale '59 OLDSMOBILE NINETY-EIGHT might just be the BEST 1:18 scale model EVER!  It's flawless and drop-dead gorgeous.  A solid Home Run from Sun Star!

Yep, I agree it's a knockout from SunStar, too ! I am delighted to have a top-up convertible like this beauty and two hardtops. What a beautiful car and SunStar 1/18 models of it.

And best of all Pete, it's an OLDSMOBILE!  I always thought the '59 was a knockout beauty.  In fact all of GM's '59 line-up with the exception of the really overdone Cadillac, in my opinion were the style leaders of the Big Three that year.

That's where we differ George....  Although I agree that ALL of GM's '59 line-up was great, Cadillac was number one, no question.  Compared to the '58's, there was nothing "overdone"  about the '59's.   I owned a '59 CDV for many years. The fins were high, but it was mostly an illusion fostered by that sloping trunk.

Despite your model being in a show case, I must say, you took some handsome 1959 Oldsmobile pics!  😎 😎

Okay to differ.  That's what makes America a great country to live in.

"Best 1/18 scale model EVER" is, I would say, a bit of hyperbole. Yes they are well done for their pricepoint and '50s land yachts are the center of your wheelhouse. Stepping outside your comfort zone, you would find the museum quality replicas of CMC and Exoto that offer quadruple the parts count with finishes that are only surpassed by 5 figure privately commissioned models.

For me, the best '59 GM offering is Chevrolet - for its truly space age Delta Wing.

Hi Charles,

I was 6 when Dad brought home a new '59 Impala in white. I instantly loved it !

Have it, love it. During the nineties there were so many beautiful 1/18 scale models coming out that it was hard to keep up with them all. The walls of my garage are lined with my personal buying spree.

@100ford2003 I loved almost the entire GM lineup in 1959, with Pontiac being #1 to my eyes.  The dud of the bunch was Cadillac, which I have disliked since the first day I saw it as a 7 year old in '59.  The lineup priority for me in '59 goes Pontiac, Chevy, Olds, Buick, Cadillac.

Wow!   Tuff crowd!   I've always been the polar opposite.   As a kid in the late 1970's I saw a picture of a '59 Cadillac and just couldn't believe it!  It was love at first site.
