It's always nice to have boatloads of money and when you're Lance Reventlow, son of Betty Hutton the Woolworth heiress, and racer/owner of Reventlow Automobiles and you're frustrated that European manufacturers only sold year old models to privateers, you just design and build your own... the Scarab. The space frame chassis only weighed 127 lbs and the modified 283 Chevy V8 pumped out 365 hp making the Scarab highly competitive.

This model is the 1959 Scarab Mkll that won the Meadowlands Grand Prix in Illinois driven by Jim Jeffords and had showed the car capable of 192 mph. The "Nickey Nouse" logo is the mascot of sponsor Nickey Chevrolet of Chicago. These cars remained competitive until 1963 when mid-engined race cars took over.
