"Coupe?" Yes, I know that's the term used by a few OEMs to describe these car-SUV-crossover-combos, but a "coupe" it ain't. However, it's a great looking vehicle ready to do battle with BMW & Mercedes! Congrats, I hope yours arrives safe & sound. 😀 😀 😀
Mercedes has called the CLS a coupe since its conception and got away with it and I can see why. This Genesis is probably closer to what is known today as a cross-over. But a rose by any other name would smell as sweet - whatever it's called - it's SUPER SWEET!
Too many SUV's are white, silver, black, but OMG, it fits this body/shape to a T.
Please pardon me for being pedantic, but I cannot let this coupé discussion go by without chiming in. After all, we're all car guys here and histories of the automotive genre are important to us, right? LOL!
According to the SAE, a coupé is defined by having a rear interior space that does not exceed 33 square feet and a fixed roof. That means any configuration, with a fixed roof, 2-door, 4-door, or hatchback, or even a station wagon, can be a coupé. I have no idea of the origins, but the colloquial understanding of it being a 2-door fixed roof is technically incorrect. According to the SAE, this Genesis GV70 could indeed be a coupé. The same with my MB GLE450 Coupé.

Determined by rear interior space!! Who knew. Thanks Marty!
(But SAE never held any weight as far as I'm concerned. Sam, Andy and Ernie are just gas station attendants....aren't they??? ) HA!!
Lol I am just listing it as the manufacturer did. Both are Genesis as well as our Honda are labeled suv and cuv. I'm feeling it was easier then saying it in its entirety everytime. My buddy lists his Urus as a " hatchback " who knew.
@marty-johnson Oh yeah..... I remember this conversation from about a year ago. Technically you (SAE ) are correct, but of course "Coupe" will always mean something a bit more exact in the States..... I mean, by definition, these are Coupes too, right? 😏 😏
Not as nice as your GLE450 or Ben's GV80, but.... 🤓
That being said and despite having 4 doors, I've ALWAYS liked the looks of these foreign Coupe-SUV-crossover-things.
With the exception of Buick, domestics OEMs have given that business away. OTHO, with body styles being less practical (but more sporty ) than traditional SUVs... I'm not certain they're losing all that much; most Americans prefer traditional SUV rooflines (and that cargo space ).
IMO, it would be nice, though, to see a Cadillac or Lincoln "Coupe." Buick's Envista Avenir is very good, but it's really no match for an Audi, BMW, Genesis, or MB.
And no, I did not forget about the Mach-E - I'm just not certain it's an "American Coupe." I guess it is..... 🤓 🧐 🤓
