In the midst of the nightmare with the nasty seller, I took a shot at a model I have wanted for ages. I have seen several come up for auction and usually they ended up going for more than my budget could bear, and I wasn't interested in the FM model, as the door gaps were a bit over the top, for me. But, today, I got a surprise...well, actually I received two surprises.
One was the notification that I had won this 1960 Bentley S2 Saloon, by Minichamps, and the second surprise was when I went online to pay for it and...wait for it...y'all better sit down for this...my eBay account was no longer available. Yup. Notified of a win and cancelled in the same afternoon. I haven't been well for a couple of weeks and after the other issue of late, I had hoped for peace and tranquility. I found a number in the USA to call and while I waited on hold (after a very weird conversation with AI) I tried signing in and no luck. I must have been on hold for fifteen minutes, or so, when I said to myself 'what the hell,' and tried to sign in again. Lo and behold, I was allowed into the sacred halls of eBay.de!! I cancelled the phone call, paid for the model, and breathed a sigh of relief.
My partner then informed me that there have been multiple PHP connection issues:
'Websites around the globe have gone dark after a serious vulnerability was found in a computer language used to build much of the world wide web.
Belgian, Dutch, Finnish, French and German sites were among those that governments took down temporarily as they scrambled to patch the critical weakness in PHP, a language used by almost 70% of websites.
The vulnerability in the programming language, which became public on Tuesday, sparked warnings from national security agencies in Washington and London. It means millions of websites will need to be fixed. One internet infrastructure expert said Russian state actors or organised criminals could exploit the flaw to carry out cyber-attacks.'
So, it wasn't an eBay issue, after all.
Now for the model, and I am hoping for a positive experience, with this gem:
BEAUTIFUL Bentley!! The color combo makes it!
.....lately, it seems, nothing comes easy for you. 😖 😩 😔 😖 😩 😌 Let's hope this beautiful MC Rolls Royce reverses that trend. 👍 👍
@perrone1 It isn't subtle, is it? I would have preferred black, but I am too chuffed to finally have one on the way to kvetch about a tiny detail. Rolls Royce Phantom limousine is next. Perhaps next year?
@perrone1 Perhaps buying them when first issued would be much better than buying used models. The FM Bentley S2s I have encountered had gap issues, among others. Yours looks pampered.

New, of course, was always better - TFM and DM always stood by their product and returns were always a positive for the consumer. Also, the price was quite a bit lower than most secondary market prices.
Most of my models were either prototypes, quality samples or hand-picked by the boyz for good photos and nice reviews.
@perrone1 As it is with any undertaking, knowing the right people and being in the right spot at the right time, are critical. You do seem to have some spectacular models.
@chris There is one available in Simpsonville, S.C., but it appears to have paint issues. I have noticed that a significant number of Kyosho Rolls Royces and Bentleys seem to also have paint issues. I passed on seven already, solely because of this.
@peronne1 She arrived today and when her license plate fell off my heart sank. But, it went right back on with ease and all is well. I do like her a lot, and she is going to stay in her box until the new shelving arrives tomorrow - actually, we're picking it up in Wiesbaden. I had taken to removing books to use shelves for models, but I came to the conclusion that books are an essential part of my life and with more shelving they can co-exist.
Here are her first pics upon arrival and I will take more photos, as soon as the dust settles:
