I finally got around to opening the trunk on Yat-ming's 1/18 1964 Mercury Parklane. It's a decent model that deserves "full function."Β I goofed a bit on the hinges (taken from a junk Edsel) as they're a bit too narrow (I knew better... I just got lazy π π ).Β I scaled down & printed some Houndstooth for the trunk.Β
You'll note the horizontal chrome trim, from the taillight assembly, had to also be cut out.
Not completely finished yet, but I thought some of you might enjoy some "work-in-progress"Β pics. πΒ

This looks great ! I am so glad Yat Ming did a 1964 Mercury and I have two of them, a white hardtop and a red one with a white top. I think it would look excellent as a top-down convertible, too.
That cut does not even seem humanly possible !!!!!.....fine,fine work
I detailed the hell out of that Marauder, but never even thought of opening the trunk. Some of your projects are on the order of "Why did you climb Mount Everest?" "Because I could".
@mikedetorrice Thanks! Lots of little stuff to still complete but the "hard part" is done.

It's really nothing... that Jewler's saw does all the work, but thanks! π

"Some men see things and ask why..... I see things and ask, Why not?"Β Β LoL π π
Trust me! This was a "non-project,"Β really just a few hours work...probably the 20th trunk I've "opened."Β I really just wanted to complete my 1/18 "FoMoCo trio."
Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......I dont trust you one iota !! .......This is the work of a masterful craftsman
No "masterful craftsman" work on this one but thank you. This Merc. deserved an "open trunk!" π πΒ
"Non-project???"Β Uh..... I don't think so!Β It looks like the model was shipped to you looking like that!Β Incredible work, there Professor!Β Β
