67-68 really were the best IMHO A Dan Gurney XR7 just can’t be beat.
In June of 1968, I was in a basic training commanded by Lt Cherry. Two weeks in, he got his captain's bars and while we were in formation, his wife showed up with a brandy new XR-7. My thoughts were, "Damn!!! It didn't long for him to blow that pay raise." It was a beautiful car.

I believe SunStar did an upgrade on details and features on their 1967 Mercury Cougars. They look great and I am delighted to have one of their civilian versions in a maroon color.
