Worth about $40K each back then, she'd occasionally drive one to school. We kind of knew the history but weren't too terribly impressed. Years later I learned, of course, that many others weren't either as several dealers found it difficult to sell off inventory; some even replaced all that aero stuff with "regular" sheet metal. 🙄 🙄

How do you not love the shape of the Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird, the two cars did have some subtle differences from each other, they were not identical twins.
I know I was very impressed to see a real one ! It featured (as does the Ertl model) a 440 c.i.d. V-8 engine.

That Dodge Daytona looks fantastic, Gavin ! It is an astonishing automobile and model and makes a sensational car to either see for real or display as a diecast replica.
