The 1995 Chrysler Atlantic concept car was a fascinating modern take on the Bugatti Type 57S. Like the Bugatti, it was powered by a straight 8 that made by joining two Dodge Neon twin cam 2.0 liter 4 cylinders that was mated to a 4 speed rear transaxle. Although production never happened, the car was built from steel so, perhaps, a limited run of the car may have been contemplated. The Chrysler engineers even tested if the Viper V12 would fit in the engine bay... and it did. The 22" wheels that looked great did not help the drivability of the car. It was built on a tubular chassis with Viper suspension. The one success of the Atlantic was that it restored the coupe as an artform rather than a practical CAD generated product.

This model was an early release by the Spanish company Guiloy. It has some interesting features but overall, the castings were poorly chased leaving a bit of mold flash, but it was the only 1/18 Atlantic I could find at the time.

A great-looking car and model of it, too. I have one if the auto-show brochures of the original Chrysler Atlantic car and I recall almost buying one of the 1/18 replicas of this one.

@michaeldetorrice I believe no one else did the Atlantic in 1/18 besides Guiloy which surprised me. The car made quite a splash when it debuted.

One of the best "tribute" cars I've ever seen. I bought a copy of Guiloy's 1/18th scale model as soon as it became available, after delays due to (if memory serves) Bob Lutz' vetting of model. The actual car is a sight to behold.

It is a great-looking car and sure made for a cool model. Perhaps the licensing was fairly restrictive and possibly that is why only Guiloy did this one in 1/18 scale.

I saw the car at the St. Louis auto show and thought it was beautiful.

IMO, it's a fantastic looking car but a so-so model that I passed on (as a rule, I don't collect concepts ).    LSS: I'll have to check with my wife, but I seem to recall she got a chance to sit in this, and/or maybe go for a quick ride.  IDK, perhaps I've got my facts  wrong...    🤔 🤨 🤔    @ 3:11am, this is no time to ask her!  😬 😬 😬

@grockwood Oh yeah, I forgot about that one.... although I think it's a bit larger than 1/64.

Guiloy made this car in 1/24 too in 3 colors: beige, white and red. I have all 3 in 1/24, but the 1/18 is more detailed. Lindberg made a kit and a promo in 1/24.
