We have been traveling quite a bit.....took the Chili Pepper to Laguna Seca spent time visiting different California State Parks (visit fellow volunteers) and spent some time in Hollywood with old friends. Took tons of photos but this darn upgrade to windows 10 really messed up my complete photo albums. It wiped out all four of my Canon cameras software and locked up my SD card slot.....really sucks.
On a good note I have been accepted into a immunotherapy cancer program (same one as Jimmy Carter) which obviously, we hope works. Unfortunately, I have (Papillary) renal-cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) not the clear-cell version. As many of you may remember, I had a Kidney removed along with a large blood clot from my vena cava. Unfortunately it had already metastasized even though the operation was highly successful.
I tried the two cancer drugs available (months apart from each other) and both immediately attacked the remaining kidney. I spent two months in July on dialysis and was very fortunate to save my remaining kidney (I have great doctors). For the grace of God the three cancer growths (chest area) at least up until now have been slow growers which let me buy some time. And as a bonus I am still a handsome son-of-a-gun and am still doing what I always did (thanks to many of your prayers along with many, many friends and family.
We're going for the 'Hail Mary' with this new treatment.....it is the cutting edge of cancer research but I truly believe.....prayer is the ultimate cutting edge.......
Stay strong, Paul. The combination of your great attitude, the love of your soulmate and other family members, excellent doctors with top-grade tools, as well as prayers from lots of people and especially from your pals here, is a pretty powerful line-up. Any rogue cells that may still be hanging around had better get out of Dodge soon or they're getting vaporized !
Paul I had no idea you were going through all this suffering !!
I adore all your wit, contributions to this site over the years and your spectacular sense of humor. A dear cousin whom battled colon cancer got a clean bill of health about a year or so ago. She went through many operations over a 2 year period and even from the beginning they gave her afew months at best! She's about 65 and is one of my favorite if not the favorite cousin! She's ever eccentric and when I found out I told her the following " Tina your going to make it, I won't let anything happen to you. You know why?? You cannot be replaced that's why!" I feel the same about you Paul! Your that rare gem that one finds only once in a lifetime
Miracles happen and I believe in the power of prayer, so you will be prayed for and thought of!!! GOD Bless you my friend
Faith and positive thinking go a long way Paul....
along with with family, friends and modern medical science. I'm into my sixth year after lung transplant. Still moving forward and doing what I like to do, savoring each day. My great friend Steve was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at about the same time as my lungs gave out. He was given very little chance...now, we chat often about the vagaries of fate, science, and life. The only thing we truly agree on is that we both believed it was not time to go, and maintained that mindset through it all. Wishing you great success with your treatments.
Thank you Phil, it's no picnic but I have been spared from pain and suffering and blessed with being able to live my life like always........Everyday is just more special and I am very lucky to have good friends (including you). The forums are almost like an extended family; just think, many of us have been sharing with each other for over fifteen years or more;
Thank you again for the kind words Phil, not to worry I told the doctor that I have a good agent and my contract expires when I am 95......and then we re-negotiate. Thanks for the prayers just in case.
Sorry to hear of your health issues. I will pray for you.
May God give you and your loved ones comfort, strength, faith hope and peace as you walk through this difficult trial.
Godspeed!
Paul you ARE a GEM!
Reading your reply made me smile AND get tears in my eyes! I so admire your positive attitude and outlooks. THAT my friend WILL keep you going until your contract expires when your 95. I want to go to California (NEVER been!!) one day in the near future. I'd love to meet up if possible, hit some car shows etc.. Maybe you could be my tour guide!
I didn't know about your illness prior to reading this post, but my thoughts and prayers are...
... with you!
