The Barris Brothers custom 1951 Mercury Club Coupe AKA the (Bob) Hirohata Merc that was owned by the same family since 1959 was sold yesterday through Wayne Carini at Mecum Auctions for over $2 mil (with commission). It was a real fan favorite in what was a virtual sea of million dollar cars.

I saw that on Mecum. A totally impressive car.

I love Mecum. I'll watch that other auction but I give Mecum a 10+ and bj a -4.

I have always loved this car and have models of it in 1/64, 1/43 and 1/24 scales. The 1/1 selling price put it out of my price range.

This was one Custom that I would gladly add to my fleet. I will forever love the '49 Mercury.
