As the 1st month of 2023 comes to a close, here's another Packard model from my collection. I hadn't intended on making a Packard series, but what the heck. Maybe a couple more yet...
This particular model came as a complete surprise to me. When it arrived in February of 2011, I didn't know anything about its release, and I was thrilled when it arrived. Where FM issued several models in this automotive era, DM did not. When they did however, they gave it their all, as with this model. It is truly a rolling work-of-art.
Now as it turns out, DM did mess one little thing up and that was the whitewall tires. When the model was originally issued, the whitewalls did not come all the way over to the wheels as it should, the result left a blue band between wheel and the whitewall. I didn't catch this at 1st, the overall model was so amazing, this detail escaped me. When it was pointed out, I didn't have a problem with the look, but it did distract a bit from the model's perfection. Not to be outdone, DM did later re-release the model with corrected whitewall tires. I have the corrected version in my collection as well.
This is the 1st version issued...

Agee with all the above,I also have this Magnificent 1936’ Packard 12
and have to admit to not noticing this slight mistake lol.
really surprised that DM didn’t catch this in the beginning
though Frankly I’m sure not 1 in 100 would pick out the boo-boo!
Not sure many have picked out all the fine details on this model.such as the running board lights in the rear fenders or the snaps on the door edges for the side curtains….yep the Sport Phaeton did in fact use side curtains…no windows in these doors.
Another DM masterpiece...great pics too.
