Thanks everyone! If I do another one I'll post more disassembly pics.
So cool to see. It's like seeing a new DM model, gives me a nostalgic thrill.
OMG! Pete, your skill and talent is incredible! I'm in awe at the beautiful work you do and the bravery to do it. Trust me, I'd not even attempt such an endeavor. You are amazing! Being an Oldsmobile lover, I absolutely love the Black/Red color combo.

AWESOME JOB!!!! it looks like an LE that DM would have offered !!! Love it
Thanks Pete for the info ! .. it looks like I'll have to repaint the top white anyway to get close to my uncle's '54 Holiday, which it was that blue (solid) with a white top
..I'll never forget that car.. I was 5 ! .. I consider use the shell beige because I'm not that good with the air brush.. but I'll try..
..thanks again Pete, all the best, Paco
Rich,
..great to hear from you too !! ..not to "hijack" the thread as you say I'll promise answer your previous mail...
and by the way.. what a great modification on that T.Bird!! ..much to talk on modifications!! and thanks for the useful tips on the '55 Olds.. risky and not cheap!
but maybe worth for me if you read my previous answer to Pete.. all the best, Paco
Excellent modification Pete!
@rich-faber Rich has suggested in the past dyeing the convertible top fabric instead of stripping it off and spray paint the top, just an alternative technique ...

Hi Paco,
No worries on that email. I'd forgotten! Whenever you have time... Thanks on the Thunderbird. I'll have to post some pics at some point. I'm sure we'll talk more about your thoughts on your Olds modification.
Best,
Rich

That's right, Chav. I've done several "dye" jobs on cloth roofs (it's not really dye that I'm using). I'll try to post some pictures and more of an explanation this weekend.
Hope you are staying well; both physical and emotional health. I know it isn't easy in your job these days.
Best,
Rich
I’d be interested to see your results painting the cloth convertible top and what you use. I tried it on my 1970 442 convertible, the top had yellowed and looked terrible. I painted it black but I wasn’t thrilled with the result. Maybe a fabric paint would be the way to go?
On the ‘55, when I removed the cloth the plastic top was very detailed with stitching around the back window. It reminded me of a Franklin Mint top.
wonderful work....
Several years ago I reapplied fabric with a bit better color match to this cabriolet modification by Rick Hanmore. Besides removing the top, Rick corrected the interior color scheme too.
Excellent modification Pete!

Doing well Rich. Turning 50 tomorrow. Waiting for the midlife crisis to kick in, so I can finally buy a sports car.
Ann Arbor and the area is 70% vaccinated. Covid is well under control here, and I am mostly doing nights now, so things are better. Thanks for asking!
The shell beige and coral convertible looks terrific! Thanks for the info on the fabric tac. I'll look into that. Oh, and Happy Birthday!
