the past few you`ve posted, this one especially included have all been extraordinary cars.......yet I have no recollection of seeing any of them,or any Studebakers for that matter,as a child........were they terribly expensive?

Not really more expensive than other cars of the era. The most expensive "Champion Coupe" was the "Regal Hardtop Coupe" that sold new for $2,129. The "President Coupe" could be had for $2,456. And all of the other Studebaker cars of that year were in these prices ranges or below.

OUCH! That's from kicking myself in the rear posterior for passing on this car when it was released. I remember having 7 cars on order when this Studebaker was announced, and I decided to hold off, after all in those days I had to also put food on the table and make a house payment. LOL, guess I didn't have my priorities in order.

@jcarnutz I am so jealous and so sorry I missed out on that beauty. I have the red but it's too garish for my taste. It just doesn't seem period to me. The Speedster is just perfect.
Love the lemon/lime paint scheme on this model and glad it's a part of my collection. I was hoping that it would also be done in the coral/charcoal/white combination which was the other promotional combination when the 1/1 model first appeared in 1955. Fortunately I have it in 1/43 scale. Great pictures John.
