John great shots.  I never got any of the Top Gear models and honestly did not know about them until you started posting.

If you follow the Trax offerings it is interesting to see the various design cues adopted through the years.  The late 50s showed what seemed to be cues of a 50s Mercury/Ford design IMO.

Heres a really comprehensive Holden history. It is still so disappointing that we have ceased production. Apart from the economic benefits, a locally built car made for local conditions to me is an important part of any countries national identity. More so than any other manufactured goods. 30 odd years ago I actually did a lot of research at uni on GMHs establishment here in Australia. I've looked but cant find the research material, which included pics of a discarded Chev design GM initially wanted to use. The other interesting aspect was most discussions about the introduction of a GM local manufacturing plant occurred in 1943 with the war still raging. It appeared GM executives considered an Allied victory a foregone conclusion.

That was a whole of info. A bunch of it I knew from my own research, but there was a ton I did not. I enjoyed reading all of that and I saved the link so that I can look into it further. Excellent, thank-you for posting this. I really appreciated it

thanks John. Ford also started manufacturing here in 1925 at Geelong in Victoria. Producing Model Ts. Heres one from that year outside the Geelong Library.

I always liked this model but it seemed that something else came along that I liked better. Some day I'll add one to my collection.
