Awesome pics as usual.  Delighted to say I have this Panama Yellow beauty.  I prefer the DM version over FM's as it has an opening gas cap and retractable rear antenna.  While not a huge Vette fan, I do like those from '56 through '60.  I particularly like the '58 Vette with its new quad headlights, faux hood louvers, front fender-top chrome strips, larger chrome grill and twin chome spears on the deck lid.  It was 1958 after all.  This rare color was available only in 1958 and was exclusive to the Corvette.  Out of 9168 Vettes produced in 1958, only 170 left the factory in Panama Yellow.

Notwithstanding John's excellent photos, I have to agree with you on DM's positives of this rendition. Operational features are fantastic. Wheelcovers, interior detail and engine features are better than their FM counterpart. BUT; The Franklin Mint's 'cove Corvettes' have a much more proper shape. All of DM's coves are misshapen, especially on the door. FM's '58 has (1) the correct cove shape, (2) the closer-to-1:1 color and (3) the proper shade of charcoal interior for a 1:1 '58 Corvette.

Hmmm...well I'm not a fan of Corvettes, but I've never said I hate them.  And technically I'm not a fan of puppies or kittens either, as long as they aren't mine.

Would I want a Corvette?  NO!  But I know people that own Corvette's and I like them.  Would I want a puppy or kitten?  NO!  And I know lots of people who own puppies and kittens, and I like them too.

So I think I'm an okay person.  Smile

I can fully appreciate John's point of view and your point of view, George. And I think you are BOTH exceptional people!

My dilemma is that I know people who love Corvettes. I know people who love kittens and puppies. I know people who have Corvettes, kittens and puppies. But I have yet to meet any kittens or puppies who own Corvettes!! Jus' sayin'!

I'm a Corvette fan and Corvette owner who loves puppies and kittens. I'm currently dog sitting my grand kids cockapoo. Outstanding color combo on this '58....of course great pictures too.
