Diecast zone policy.................

Its about time that the management of this site make decisions to enforce their rules. It would also be welcome these rules could be revised and the policies updated to censure some individuals who lack respect about what is the mission of this site: discuss and exchange about diecasts and forbid the personal concerns of everyone no matter it is with Legacy and /or any of the resalers who post on this board.

If the rules are revised and enforced, the majority of the people reading this BB will be better served.

And the membership would drop like flies. Boards like this need catalysts to make things interesting and introduce fresh opinions, even if they make no sense sometimes. That's what the technique of brainstorming is all about.

There's a big difference between catalysts and cattiness.

Richard while I agree on enforcing this forum's code of conduct.

I don't condemn those who defend themselves against constant personal attacks from Randy May. Your post sounds more of a dictatorial regime and thats not the purpose here. The main goal and winning ticket of this forum has always been its democratic and less censored system. I strongly agree on not bringing personal matters and/or disputes, however the attacked party has always the right to a defensive move once the button been pushed. This forum starts to be monitored and only a few will post, it will in no time become less attractive to join and it will soon become as boring as the rest of diecast forums out there, so sorry it will end like this.

The serious people will post more than ever....

and continue to post because the troublemakers will be gone and they will not be distracted anymore by personal egos of some individuals who want to bring attention on themselves.

These enforced rules are needed to clear out the clouds and bring back the joy of our hobby on the best site in the business.

I find this and some previous threads a bit disturbing....

I'm in sympathy with Tom on this. Ok, some feathers get ruffled around here once in a while. We're passionate about our hobby and sometimes a little self control would be in order. Certainly those that "lose it" a bit on occasion are admonished and we all move on. Foul language and harsh personal attacks can and should be dealt with.
That said, the last thing we need here is the "thought police". I'm not big on censorship. Like Tom I think that heavy-handed reaction has more of a negative impact on these forums than these tempests in a teapot. If you want to scare away the "serious people", wield the threat of censure to those who dare criticize.

Well said, Rich. Censoring or banning one person often makes a lot of others stay quiet, or, worse yet, leave this great forum.

I agree personal attacks should not be allowed, but honest criticizim of a manufacturer's product or a distributor's selling/delivery practices is another matter IMHO.

Just for the record for those that may have missed it ...the original thread still exists way down the page (11402). You will find no foul language, no personal attacks, only a few questions as to if someone's opinion of a pricing structure had changed. When that person asked why...I stated that someone (a third party) told me that he may have indeed changed their opinion about something in the industry. The person became very very upset that someone was talking behind his back and that was what started the thread at the top of the page that was removed. That one was heated, but there was still no foul language...just a lot of ???'s and !!!'s.

I somewhat regret ratting on the gentlemen (3rd party) who told me of the decision change but how else could I get the original person to tell ME? I believe what we had there is a bit of pride over an agreement...(to this hour he says he still wants to fullfill it and I still cannot get him to cancel) and somehow I came off as upset when I was not, I was only trying to learn. Someone correctly stated that I don't give up...which is correct I am very obsessed with doing everything right down to the very last grain of sand...might have gotten that from my father.

For those of you that wish, you may once again criticize me now. Just try to keep it clean so it is not removed. Thank you.

It isn't the foul language in many cases...rather it is using the Forums to deal with customer service issues (whether Legacy, a Mint, independent dealers, competitive issues between dealers, auction sellers, etc. Those concerns should be directed to the proper parties and not aired on the Forums. I don't think that deleting such posts will discourage any thoughful visitor from posting - in fact the absence of such stuff will make the experience more pleasant and encourage more folks to express themselves.

Well said Rich, I couldn't agree with you more ...

there are just as many people turned off by the self serving censorship as the personal attacks. While personal attacks should not be tolerated, neither should suppression of opinions.
