DM 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 Special
Good evening everyone,
I'm not new to the site nor this forum, but this is my first post.
Recently I was lucky enough to come across this beautiful model and fell in love with it.
The fit and finish is about as close to mint as it could be.
The box, styrofoam and all papers are perfect.
The problem?.... both exterior rear view mirrors are missing.
No damage at all to the model, almost as if they were taken off.
My questions to the forum if possible are...
Are these parts available with this model being discontinued?
Could someone point me in the right direction?
I would really like to restore this piece.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here's thanking all in advance.

Tony, I dont post often and believe others on this board have a lot more knowledge and experience. As far as I know - these pieces cannot be purchased via the mints - maybe on ebay or a parts car. Good luck
You're correct Ron; the Mints have not supplied miscellaneous parts...
...for their replicas. Once in a great while one of the diecast guys at FM or DM read a post like Tony's and sent them parts IF they found them. But in general only a plea like this may be answered by one of our members reading the forums here.
How about a 1/24 or 1/25 scale plastic kit as a source?
Unfortunately I can't point you to a specific kit that has appropriate plated mirrors, but kits are usually cheaper than diecast mint models. I thought for sure the Monogram 1941 Continental had mirrors but I can't finds any evidence of that. You will have an easier time finding a pair of matching mirrors than finding a single unit to match one already on the car. Something close to correct, as long as they are the same on both sides of the car, could be used.
The 1941 Cadillac is my favorite DM car as well. Good luck finding parts.
[Added later: Maybe the Monogram 1940 Ford coupe? Mirrors look close.]
How about a 1/24 or 1/25 scale plastic kit as a source?
Dave thats a thought!
I'll look into that...
Thanks

When ever I purchase a model with missing parts, especially fairly rare or sought after models, I usually look for parts cars, usually priced very cheaply. These can be found at various swap meets or flee markets, garage sales, etc. Sometimes I may go a year or so before I find a candidate, or I may stumble upon some very quickly. On the other hand, some models do not warrant restoration because of the costs involved.
