George, modified precision die cast cars have always been in demand and even more so now that we no longer can buy the factory made 1/24 precisions. The cars that are modified by those who know how and do it right sell for great prices. These are indeed collectible as they are truly one of a kind.
To realize just how valuable hand-made models are tune in on the price of a hand built made by Paul Kravcheck, Paul Hettic, Wadus Exum or one modified by Bob Jernigan, Rick Hanmore and others. At one time Brian Dunning was contemplating a complete line of junkers.
I also would like to state that those who are seriously into precision model collecting also collect everything associated with a particular model - including the paperwork, magazine ads, pre-production mock ups, color samples, newspaper articles et al that are associated with them.
There is a market for these ancillary items too.
Dennis, I sent it.

Ooooooooooo! I like it!!!
Even those of us who dont know what we're doing LOL - Ive modified many with varying degrees of success - I had fun doing it - if I sell - no one has to buy - and when I croak, put them in the trash bin - I wont care. In the mean time I will continue to repaint, remove skirts, nose, deck etc. and roll on. and no - I have never chopped up a car that hasnt already been damaged, missing parts etc.
At 73 Im thinking its time to downsize - I see a condo in the future - but I have my 1/24's >250, a few guns (everybody wants) HO train and miles of track, CD's, old records nobody wants, so Im debating what to do - I gave my oldest son an old grandfather clock, wall mount that hung in my grandmothers dining room, a Minolta SRT 101 single reflex 35mm camera, Bosch tube table radio. Anyone interested in a Lawrence Welk LP album? LOL
Sad that you feel you have to downsize. For me, that time will never come. While I'm still breathing on this planet, my cars, comics collection, wrestling collection, record collection, will be with me.
And yes, when I finally lay below the sod, it's not my worry what becomes of any of it. But until such time, it's all mine baby!

Not an opinion, George. Those are the facts.
Good attitude - and even though I said I was downsizing - it was everything BUT my cars. I would like to move though - no grass to cut, steps to climb, gutters etc. getting too hard for me to maintain.
Ron, I actually enjoy mowing with my Garden Tractors,
I have a 1991 Craftsman 19.5 HP at my house for my lawn and a neighbor with a bad knee and a 2015 Husqvarna 22hp at my son's place to do his 2 acre lawn.
With all the tree damage we get here in Florida during tropical storms and hurricanes I keep five chainsaws ready to go but don't look forward to using them.photo no longer available

When I owned 6.5 acres in Wadsworth Ohio, mowed probably half, for awhile had a number of decrepit riding lawnmowers - Bolen, Craftsman, Monty Ward, Simplicity, all bought used - finally broke down and purchased in 93 a 48" Exmark walk-behind with a 12 hp Kawasaki engine - still have - and runs like a champ (it does not me)
