@charles-rockett I can appreciate your comments about the Volvo Charles but for some reason I have loved the Volvo Amazon/122/123/124 (named the Volvo Canadian here) since the first time I laid eyes on one as a child many years ago.  It is a rather simplistic and old fashioned design to be sure but the car just grabs me in a big way that I cannot explain.  I would love to have a 123 GT in particular.

Well I'll be.....I am embarrassed to say that for some obscure reason I have never made this design connection!  Thanks Charles.

@john-barry I believe this Jay-B18 would suit you perfectly.

@charles-rockett The Volvo PV445/Duett wagon was fairly rare in British Columbia back in the 60s; usually seen in red with a white/pale grey roof.  It had many other commercial and UTE modifications to its basic chassis but none were seen here back in the day.

@jack-dodds I can't remember seeing one at all. The PV444s found their way to Zambia (doubtless everywhere in sub-saharan Africa) but I don't recall seeing any estate nor van versions there and neither in the U.K. as of '67. Perhaps being of an older type, they were not earmarked for export?

The ones I saw here were in the early 1960s.

Jack 'n' John, I've been wracking my brain over a Volvo saloon one saw in the '70s, just like the 164 but with a slightly sharper appearance. It always had a vinyl roof, commonly metallic light blue with black vinyl and Rob Eddie did a version in this guise. Any ideas? I can't find any image on the web, but this may be another contender for the car in question.

I found an image but no info'. It's from New York Times article: When Volvo Shaved An Inch Off The Top.

@charles-rockett .........those were good times to be a Nader`s Raider......my second Volvo had a body shape similar to your saloon.....it had shed much of the "quality" of my earlier year model

That's the Volvo Bertone coupe.  Lots of them here back in the day but I always thought the roof was too low; never cared for it.  Here is a pic of its interior....does this ring a bell JayBee?

@jack-dodds............... the body shape of the saloon/bertone was like the one I had,but the roof was not lowered....in fact, mine had an operable moon roof/sunroof ..................things broke and fell off regularly in the style of a corvette or a 70`s Cadillac Shut Mouth

as I look closely at the 164 model you showed earlier, that seems to most closely resemble my first Volvo but mine was perhaps in a cheaper trimline

@john-barry The square grille is the most distinctive feature.
