I feel as a public service I should share this story - this past saturday
I think Larry Hooper was kind enough to give the link for removing the connie on the back of the blue 58 Pontiac - although i have done repairs and even some repaints - messing with a perfectly good (and mostly beautiful) issue bordered on lunacy for me but went ahead anyway - Well - you know the story - even the seemingly easiest of jobs can turn out ugly - this was no exception - actually - after studying the John Luthi's pix I figured out what needed doing (after unneccessarily removing 2 body screws)so with dremel tool in hand i proceeded to remove the connie - in the process...I broke off both side view mirrors, drivers side sunvisor and the pain the butt air cleaner fell out - not to mention getting fingerprints all over....putting back together wasn't too tough with one exception - the tailpipe extensions needed to be cut to fit and everything of course glued back together - Fortunately it looks ok -and much better without the connie - i also had the bright idea to take the spare tire out of the connie and while unscrewing the tire from the arm stuck the screw driver about 1/3 of the way into my right index finger...OUCH...(amaizing how cussing actually makes you feel better) anyway, alls well that ends well and one of these days im going to show pix of this car - along with some of my other quasi successess and dismal failures - but its all been fun - SO - my advice if you intend to do this - BE CAREFUL!!
Maybe this procedure should have this warning massage attached....
WARNING!!! THIS PROCEDURE COULD BE HAZARDOUS TO YOU AND THE MODEL.
Glad to be of service Ron. And glad you are still alive and are happy with the results.
LOL (sorry to laugh). This is precisely why I don't attempt any of this type work.
LOL.....Also sorry for laughing but I've been there-----done that. I still have a few models I don't remember how to put back together.
LMAOROTF - sorry Ron, but that sounds EXACTLY like it would turn out if I did it.
Ron - Look at it this way - You have a "one of a kind diecast" with your heart, soul and
BLOOD stuck into it !!!
🙁
Ron...I feel your pain. Exactly the reason I'd not attempt such a project.
And exactly the reason I gave up years ago assembling model cars. They never turned out the way I'd like them to look. And the very same reason I was happy when I found 1.24 diecast models.
Glad for you in the end, you were able to get your Pontiac the way you wanted it.

Ron, thanks for the laugh even if that was not your intent.
Your Indian now has DNA.

You at it this way.... You and that Pontiac are now official "Blood Brothers" !!!! LOL
Don't worry Ron - just put it on eBay and list it as mint like many there do!
