2008 John Deere Model 5105M.
This is another John Deere tractor from Ertl’s Prestige Collection series. Not the most precision-detailed line but above the standard Replica, ‘Big Farm’ or some of their older-issued collector editions.
The John Deere Model 5105M was produced from 2008 until 2011. It was part of the 5M Series of Utility Tractors along with the 5095M, 5115M and the 5625 (no ‘M’ designation). One variant was the 5105ML which was John Deere’s Low Profile open station, no cab, model. This tractor had a 4.5L 4 cylinder diesel producing 105 HP at the engine and a claimed HP rating at the PTO (Power Take-Off) of 90 HP. The chassis was that of a 4X4 4WD MFWD (Mechanical Front Wheel Drive). It could be equipped with either a 16-speed partially synchronized transmission or that of a 12-speed, a 16-speed partially synchronized with power shift or a straight 32-speed gearbox.
The cab had the option of heat and A/C and the vehicle, in cab configuration, held 40.7 gallons of diesel fuel. Wheelbase was 85.6 inches and weight, depending on open station or fully equipped cab format, was 7300 to 8400 pounds.
Ertl’s 5105M diecast does not feature finely scaled and crafted electric wiring, engine and hydraulic lines and fittings as does the Precision Classics and John Deere Collector’s Center models but the fidelity to form is excellent. The hood opens and the front steering is posable. The engine detail is not like a ‘Mint’ model but not bad either. The interior details are carried out well and the model represents the 5M Series very nicely.
well gosh Tony......despite the lack of nightmarish pinchy mechanisms and an aggressive predator-like stance, with all romanticism aside, this is more the style of tractor all of us armchair heroes would probably gravitate to.....PERFECT photos of a perfectly reasonable tractor

LOL! Thank you John. By 'predator-like stance' I have a feeling you may be referring to my '50 JD Model G Hi-Crop??

Very nice Tony. I have seen this one out at shops in my travels.
Excellent photos of a subject matter I know nothing about. Thanks for the education, Tony
