Lets set the record straight!
Probably the 2nd best thing about this hobby is the enjoyment I get reading the board every day! I do not collect for investment purposes ,but because I think they are neat. I just meant to say that I notice that almost all of my DM cars happen to be worth as much or more as
I paid for them, and the FM are completely the opposite.
Obviously FM is screwed up or they too would hold there
value or appreciate. I am not a delaer, when I sell, it is beacuse I bought 2 at the time of an issue or I am simply sick of the model. Because of the value of FM models, I certainly choose to buy DM when at all possible. Thats all guys, just a statement about FM value. Randy, you can defend FM all you want, but you will never convince me that FM has anything over DM in my opinion. Randy, if you had a choice to be DM dealer tomoorow or FM, we all know who you would choose, especially if DM would agree to dealer exclusives.
whats funny to me (and IMHO) is i get excitied when DM changes color combo on an existing issue - yet look at FM as just another way to sell old product - and at a premium
I have both the 55 and 57 Pontiacs (2 each - diff colors) and although i like the new red/black combo - ill wait till i can get it on ebay for 35.00....LOL
One more...
...DM's overseas sales channels are poor or non-existant. I'm selling off all of my Mint cars and the highest sales prices are paid (I find) by overseas buyers.
John
fm values
I remember seeing FM cars at wal mart for about 60 bucks and last year I was at a outlet mall and they were selling FM cars at a furniture outlet of all places for about 45 bucks.
I'd be willing to sell my DM '66 Mustang for $22.50
Which One?
There's more than one? DM repaints? Blasphemer!!! (/Cartman)
Your Diggin Yourself In Deeper
let me be clear - i never bought any of these for resale i enjoy these toys and will (hopefully) never sell them
i like some more than others - as do the rest of you....but this a great hobby...and if i could...id own them all (i'm up to about 135)
the bargain FM's were before the company was bought...the new strategy is make money - with minimal capital expenditures...while i understand - it has no/little appeal to me
wheres that 49 oldsmobile?
So?
To be fair, DM is just as vunerable to falling values. And I only collect DM.
Just spend some time checking what is selling on eBay and here and you'll see that while FM models do average a lower resale price than DM models, Danbury Mint stuff generally isn't holding original values except for some limited editions and out of production stuff. The whole market is down. NEVER buy a diecast model expecting it will never fall below what you paid for it. That is usually a big mistake.
Randy's rantings
Get a life!
No!
Hey Marco check this theory out that I should get a life I wonder if you can possibly describe to him how unpossible that is? LOL!
