The Plymouth Prowler roadster left me with mixed feelings. It's design and build didn't seem to come from from your classic custom builder like Foose, Coddington or Roth, but rather a corporate endeavor designed to prevent law suits. It was sort of a kiddie car hot rod wannabe. Safe for children of all ages with built in restrictions that would preclude anyone killing themselves with its tame 3.5 liter V6 and automatic transmission, it was made to look cool for local car shows but lacked the serious performance of the hot rod it pretended to be.
I also have mixed feelings about DM's model. It seems accurate enough, but there's something toy-like about it. The color of the finish is quite beautiful and has a nice flop to it in different lighting, but the metallizer seems out of scale... not fine enough. The textures also seem a bit overdone... again, out of scale.... too textured and too plasticky (if that's a word). I'd love to read some opinions on this.
I agree. All-in-all, it's not a bad model. I got it because it seemed interesting enough, but in hand, it left me a bit cold.
If anything the 1:1 has a "plasticky" look to it as well. It surprised me when Chrysler released this car.

Love the model, LOVE your photos my dear friend!
I always wished that MoPar evolved the car to grow a 6-speed manual trans and, OH YES, a V-8. And REALLY wished the DM Boyz made a variant; perhaps custom or hot rod version of the model - but at least a re-paint or two!

+1! You nailed it John.
@perrone1 Somewhere in New Jersey, there's a Prowler club and they rally at Sandy Hook Park occasionally. There's a really cool variety of mods and customs that envision what the Prowler could have been... a really cool rod.
I agree with Tony, John M. really nailed it.
The Prowler always reminds me of Ken Posie's Streamliner.... That's a hot rod!

Tony. I like the last 2 the best. Would have been something I look at getting if they were real. I for one always liked the Prowler, but was disappointed when it only came with the V-6. Should have had a small V-8 that rumbled every time you started it.

Could not agree more John!!
While I'm a lover of beautiful car design I'm also fond of oddball creations and this one, to me, really fits the oddball category. Those bumpers just stuck on and protruding like that! I've never seen a 1:1 so no doubt all your expert opinions on it would be correct. On the model I'm OK with the paintwork but the interior to me is a good, but not quite there attempt.
I thought the original Plymouth car was exceptionally cool and this looks like a fine replica of it. I completely agree with both these statements by Tony and John :

Had it had Chrysler Corporation's small V-8 in it initially or soon evolved to that and some of the design directions shown, this could have been even more of a cool car.
The DM model certainly photographs beautifully here !
