For years I kept convincing myself that I was not a Corvette collector until one day I took stock and realized I had somehow amassed a huge collection in 1/24 and 1/18 scales. I had bought FM's first Vette, the red '63 and wasn't very impressed by it. Over the years, FM refined their model making abilities and when they started their fiberglass releases, I bought their ZO6 split window and I just loved the dark blue and saddle interior as well as all the little details added beyond their original release.
I love the photos! Hope it's okay that I don't like the car. I've never needed to be convinced that I'm not a fan of Corvette's, because truth is, I'm not a fan. Not from day one, not even a little bit. BUT I LOVE THE PHOTOS!

This one of my favorite year for the Corvette. I have a couple but not the dark blue.
I have all of the FM Fiberglas Corvettes. The shut lines on these models are perfect and the details are superb. Never understood how FM could do these with all of the opening parts and others couldn't. Love the pictures Rich and Tony.
Great pics! I have the silver and dark blue Vettes, but I don't remember the gold one.
It looks mean and nasty in black! Love it! Did you do a parts swap with DM's silver blue drag car and a stock black Vette?

Yes, exactly. The black hood was cut, and the interior was changed too. The roof was painted flat black on the inside. The lenses for the backup lights were scratch made and mounted in the exhaust openings. The license plate was printed on inkjet printer (laser printer would've produced crispier image). The hood fasteners were made from needles and photoetched discs/wire. The shut off switch was made from syringe needle. Probably should've replaced the antenna ...
Fun project, not very complex. The most skillful task was cutting the hood without damaging the paint.
Well done, Chav!
