PIC: I added this absolute beauty to my parking lot today. I want to thank Martin Holleran for his excellent handling of our transaction. I have given him a 1+ rating on the Auction site.

This Ford Custom is the FOURTH customized die-cast I have, and it's my favorite.

Now let me clarify something, as I'm sure there will be some here on the Forum who will want to remind me that I said I'm not a custom fan and that I don't appreciate cars that are modified. For the record that is true, but let me explain.

Of the (now) four custom's I have in my collection, they are in my collection because I like the cars they were customized from. All four are from Danbury Mint: '40 Ford, '41 Chevy, '55 Ford, and '58 Chevy. Does this make me a lover of customs? NO!

But these four DM cars were so uniquely customized that I can relate to them as they are often examples I've seen at old car shows for decades. For that reason, and that reason alone, I've added them to my collection.

They are all beautiful. Again, THANK YOU Martin Holleran!photo no longer available

Nice add, George! I suggest you add DM's '57 Chrysler 300C to your group of Customs!

Thanks Barry. But I'll pass on the DM Chrysler custom. That one does NOT appeal to me at all.

I also just now, added a "Review" of this outstanding custom on the "Car List & Review" page. I was shocked to see that this car had NO REVIEWS. I find it sort of ironic that the FIRST review of this car is by me, who is an admitted non-custom car guy.

Folks, this car is beautiful! Check out my review.

George I've bought several models from Martin and he is a pleasure to work with.

Also, I've had this Crown Victoria since it was first issued and the detail is outstanding. I especially like the sun glasses laying on the consul.

Congratulations George. This is a really nice model. The first of the custom models I added to my collection. This is an area I don't collect a lot of either. I do have more than 4, but not sure exactly how many.

While not everyone's cuppa Joe, Custom builds are welcome in my collection - no questions asked.

George has made a great choice with the custom displayed here.
Customs, by this I think you mean after market built models based on one that pre-exists in another form by a collectible manufactuer - example: TFM or DM.

To each his own and it's up to the individual collector what they wish their collection to look like.
Up until quite recently, I built custom models from trans- kits. A resin body built in limited numbers using the bones from a plastic kit.
My last thee customs are a Resin 1939 Chevrolet 4DS using an AMT kit of a 1939 Chevrolet Coupe` for parts to finish the job.
The second, a 1948 Plymouth Coupe` resin body using an AMT kit designed to build a 1941 Plymouth Coupe.

Finally.
The discovery that Revell produced a 1941 Ford Woody Wagon, lead me to some front clips from the Woody and a resin 1948 Ford Coupe`
All that has meant that with some work and imagination, I could produce three models that I would otherwise have been unable to add to my collection of American cars - 1930 - 1952 in the glorious 1/24 scale.

Sadly though, these customs and those that preceded them are the last that I will be making. Advancing decrepitude has seen to that.

This MIGHT be one that does appeal to me.

Some of the Mints' custom jobs are not appealing to me. This one is. But the Hirohata Mercury is my favorite car of all time. SO I do like Kustoms. Hot rods and customs are such a subjective thing. I have the DM 50 Mercury in eggplant/lavender and the HotWheels Mercury in diecasts and a LOT of plastic buildups of hot rods and customs.

Good review - thanks for adding it.
