...but no heartache on heartache. This is the 16th '55 Oldsmobile I've repainted, so I wanted it to be special. I chose Twilight Blue over Bimini Blue Poly for this convertible: Castings ready for primer-sealer, then painted base coats and clear coat... But after doing the initial mock-up, the colors didn't work well together, at least to my eye. The Twilight Blue was just too dark. So, after sanding down the front clip and upper sides, I repainted the Twilight Blue the lighter shade of Frost Blue. Mock-up with chrome attached made this color combo come alive. Much better!! Interior: I chose a tri-tone combo of white, light blue, and dark metallic blue. Pics show white masked off and light blue painted, then white and light blue masked off and the upper dark blue painted. Door panels are shown before assembly and the application of BMF. Chassis from the red/white convertible below. The white inner fenders will be painted semi-gloss black like the 1:1 cars and red carpeting will be changed to blue. I use Ken's Kustom Fuzzy Fir and a close-matching blue enamel. I use enamel because it dries slower, allowing more time and better adhesion of the Fuzzy Fir. When I was building 1:25 scale models in the late '60's there was a similar product called Funny Fir flocking for model car carpets. Fuzzy Fir sounds a lot like Funny Fir. Hmmmm. Here's the finished product. I have about 35-40 hours in this car, from tear-down to build-up, plus materials. I hope you enjoy seeing another color combination that DM could have done. I've got three more models in the works, hoping to wrap those up in the next three or four months. Thanks for looking!

Thank you Steve, and Merry Christmas! Concerning the DM Oldsmobile headlights, there is no locating "peg". Danbury Mint molded the headlight bezel and bucket as one piece and glued a delicate lens over it for a realistic look.

I can always tell if a lens has been reglued because, if not done properly, it will fog over and look cloudy.

Thanks Pete, not having the model itself I did not know they did that. That's a great upgrade to their modeling skills.
