Tony: is the new DM 1948 Buick a regular run or a Limited Edition?
Thom, standard issue - NOT a limited release. There'll...
...be plenty to go around.
Thanks T -- I'll kick my "panic mode" down a couple of notches!!!
But wadda ya wanna bet that like the 56 DeSoto, the'll do it in another color that you have to buy in order to get a woody wagon or convertible. I hope not, but the DeSoto marketing thing just rubbed me the wrong way.
And like the '49 Merc, do a woody wagon!!!!
I have been fence sitting.
I want the 1956 Desoto Sportsman coupe but don't care for the color (nice color but that is why I am fence sitting on the purchase). I want that model with the wire wheels but have been fence sitting for months regarding the current color(s). In a moment of weakness I was going to order it this last weekend along the the 1948 Buick and have them both shipped directly to me in Canada and the heck with import taxes. Couldn't do that (see response above "shipping to the lower 48"). So I have still not ordered the Desoto coupe. Either DM comes out with another similar model I will, in a weak moment, order or I guess I will suppose I have to wait and hope for a repaint. I agree with you in that I just don't want to get caught up in this game of ordering one model you don't want in order for you to get a future model you do want. I ordered the DM 1953 Corvette and never ordered any of their exclusive models. However I did later order the DM 1958 Corvette because they look great together. In the future I hope the mints stop this game of order this one and you can later buy that one. Just offer the later ones as a Ltd. Ed. and get on with it. I am just not going to buy one model I don't want in order to get a future model I "might" want. I buy those future models on auction and this is money the Mints don't get to help them develop future images.
I have a feelilng that DM is reconsidering the buy-one-to-get-another marketing program.
Alfred, I *highly* recomend the yellow DeSoto...
...I can hardly believe that there isn't more discussion on this beautiful model! The yellow & black scheme is in my opinion the most "real" looking of the three DeSoto's (so far). While it doesn't have the detail of the '57 & '58 Chryslers, (window "down" detail, transmisson lines, etc.) it is a beautiful image indeed. I encourage you to give it a try.
