Hi All,

I feel like I'm losing my grip here, but I can't fine Tony Perrone's "The Lost Archives" or whatever the exact title of Tony's excellent write-ups on 1:24 Danbury and Franklin Mints is.  Perhaps it's right in front of my face and I'm missing it?

Can somebody please post a link to it and I will try to figure out what my problem is here?  LOL

Much appreciated! 🙂

They were there for some time when the site was new. It took me weeks to upload them. Somehow they slipped back into oblivion. When they were still part of the forums (Listed in Forum 24) I made the thread a 'sticky'. After so many were lost the second time, someone apparently deleted them all. Lost again.  I Dont Know

@perrone1 Such a loss to the history of the mint models. Fortunately we still have Tony and Rich Sufficool with us and contributing on a daily basis  here on the forums.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but that archive should have been published, I wish I would have at least copied and printed it!

Are you guys talking about all of the old diecast reviews that Tony did from the old site?  I am trying to follow, because I have links to the old listings, but they do not have photos, just the write ups.  Let me know.

isn't there a way to go back to old sites? Someone did it here years ago. Be great if anyone does know. In the meantime I'll look around.

PS this seems to be it, to delve deeply maybe a subscription is required? I was able to view forum posts from 1998, with the venerable Mr Perrone still at the helm of 1/24!

@geoff-jowett

That's it Geoff, The Wayback Machine. It takes a subscription to access it but it is not all inclusive. Some have the reviews, no photos and others have no reviews at all. There are lists of DM and FM cars, John N., I have most of those, but no reviews or photos with them.

Here are the link I use and I can see all the reviews.  Pictures just don't show up.

http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/html/asp/list_reviews/review.asp

You would use it just like the old days and pick what manufacturer you want to see.  I hope this helps.

thanks John, 1773 pages of diecast model reviews, what an incredible resource. Pics are there on the last couple of pages, I did not go further back at this time.

Tony,

Wait--hold the phone.  I do have a subscription, btw, and I'm aware that you've been painstakingly REBUILDING the archive of your reviews.

When you write this, who is this "...someone..."?

"After so many were lost the second time, someone apparently deleted them all. Lost again."

And aren't you a MOD here, or something?

I'm just a fairly-recently paid subscriber.  I'm struggling to understand how single member, who was NOT a mod, could just DELETE them all???

Plus, since YOU'VE been RE-adding them, again, doesn't that mean you have everything you've added backed up on your own personal device--OR IN "THE CLOUD?"

The only reason I decided to pay the subscription was to read your 1:24 DM and FM reviews!!!

Can you please "escalate" this to "The Powers That Be" (which I assumed was YOU) and make someone who owns this site FIND your hard work again?

@geoff-jowett I'm sorry, but this link ( http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/html/asp/list_reviews/review.asp ) just takes me to the Home Page for this entire website.  It says:

"Welcome to the home of the original Diecast Car Collectors Club!" and shows the GT40, etc....

What am I doing wrong?

Art, I'll TRY to clarify. I did the majority of reviews for the original Diecast Zone. Those reviews had my photo shoot attached. At first there were 1 or 2 small photos, as time went on, there were as many as 10 and 12. These were archived (Before Cloud came about) but I kept the reviews from a certain date on my computer (3 computers actually - as time progressed) and didn't see a need to download all that went before it since they were archived. All photos were stored elsewhere; on memory sticks, CD and thumb drives. I was a member of the board and moderator of the forums but specifically on the 1/24th forum.

When the new owners took over the site, the Car Lists & Reviews were somehow lost - new IT people or a glitch somehow. I have retired and took  the time to only moderate the same 1/24th forum but am an administrator here. I uploaded as many reviews as I still had on my devices, mostly memory sticks. I tried to upload what photos I still had. It took a few months but I got them loaded and I made the tread a sticky, like a sticky note. The thread does not fade away with no useage.

Some time ago, the first half were lost again. It happened at a time that we had a site problem so we figured an IT solution to that destroyed the reviews. They eventually lost the sticky designation and all were lost. Who is the someone or something? No idea. The Way Back Machine may or may not have them still but I'm too worn out to use it.

Sorry this is the web address so that you can see all the reviews.  I must have copied the wrong one in my earlier post.

YES John! That's the WayBack Machine. This is the DM link. Do you also have the FM by chance?
