1962-63 Ferrari 250 GTO by Box of Italy.

About 30 years ago Bang made a very nice model of the Ferrari Got which was hurt most by its primitive plastic wire wheels. I upgraded these to metal wheels with what is to me a good improvement.

Here is the model, before and after the addition. First as originally purchased.

s l1600
s l1600

Here it is with the new wheels, by Renaissance. The wheels cost more than the original model.

Box Models started its activity in 1984. In that time its models of Ferraris and Ford GT 40 were absolutely magnificent. The same I can tell about a selection of Ferrari by Idea 3/ Old Cars. In 1990 Box Models was separated into Bang and Best. Best focused on Ferrari and Bang produced Ford GT 40, Shelby Cobra, Mercedes 300 SLR etc. These models were very nice and neat by a reasonable price.

David,

Your investment & modification has paid off and improved this Ferrari model. Great job of finding those wheels.

I just checked my 1/43rd 62 GTO with metal wire wheels and it is a Bang from Italy. I presume that at some point they upgraded from the plastic wheels. The clear plastic top of the model's box has a round sticker saying, "With Aluminum Wheels" on it. The GTO:

009
010

Also a Bang with the same sticker and metal wheels, 250 Testa Rossa:

011
012

@perrone1 I think that Bang modified wheels for its models. As far as I know most cars by Bang have absolutely magnificent spoked wheels. Late models which box carries Revell logos had some problems with decals and were less accurate as previous. Sadly, in 2005 Bang stopped production.
