I always though vinyl tops helped hide the welds for the rear fenders. My first car, a '69 AMC Ambassador, had a vinyl top.

So I guess the green Toro will be green all over?

Yes, all of the Toros will have body color tops. If you no longer want the Ming Jade, no worries! As soon as I found out, I put a note on the listing to that effect. Just let me know!

A question on the colors.  I just received an email from a diecast seller I've bought from in the past.  They show the Regency Rose and Cinnamon Bronze colors being issued as standard colors by Stamp.  So, what is different about those 2 color choices?  Is it the wheel covers?  They don't show the blue or green versions as being available so they are unique.  Just wondering.

The Ming Jade and Aegean Aqua are colors exclusive to TOYCARGEEK, the others are standard Stamp colors. It was my request that all colors would have the deluxe wheel covers EXCEPT the Aegean Aqua, which would have silver painted wheels. The chrome wheels were an option exclusive to TOYCARGEEK (I am paying extra to have those made). I am trying to clarify if the plan changed without my knowledge, or if the photos provided are not accurate, or if there was a miscommunication between me and Stamp at some point. I was not aware that they were going to publish the same photos that were sent to me for review. So far Stamp has been great to work with, so I'm sure this is just a snafu of some sort. I will post here as soon as I get more info.

Opening up the development process for everyone to see and participate in has been beneficial from a feedback standpoint. For example, all of the colors were chosen based on collector feedback generated from my Facebook poll, and so far I have read nothing but positive comments regarding the choices. The downside is that there are ALWAYS revisions happening until final production begins (and sometimes after, too!), so there is bound to be some confusion to the collector.

It was my suggestion to Stamp to be transparent throughout the development process on this project to engage collectors, and to (hopefully) produce a model that really hits the mark. Was it worth it? Should we do it again?

What does everyone think? Do you enjoy seeing the process, or is it too confusing to see things changing over time? Let us know!

@jkuvakas Many GM cars, had 2 or 3 stripe tires from 1967 -1970.  I know my dad's '67 & '70 Cadillacs came with two-stripe tires.  Aftermarket "3 stripers,"  as far as I know, were available as early as 1962 from General Tire. They were called Dual 90s.  I never knew anyone who owned a '70 Toronado, but optional whitewalls were "3 stripers."

It is hard to tell from these photos, but it looks like they may have double stripes!

@daveg I think you have done an admirable job keeping all of us informed of the work and developments on this model. So much so that I will very likely break my self-imposed guideline of not buying any models of vehicles beyond the 1969 model year! You will NEVER meet every person's expectations on this site or anywhere on planet earth, so kudos to you for your diligence and transparency.

@daveg I'm impressed!  I do see double stripes on that 1/43 tire!

As John K. noted, he didn't recall ever seeing 3 stripe tires like those featured in most brochures. Furthermore, I can't find even one period-photo showing a 1970 Toronado wearing 3-stripers.   However, I can find photos of '70 Toros wearing 2-stripers.

Therefore, seeing 1/43 2-stripers  makes me smile as it should ALL collectors!  Thanks for the response, Dave.

Love seeing the process - makes the actual model much more interesting when it is received in the flesh...  Thanks for documenting all this!

Since I have the blue 66 by Spark and I'd prefer an LE I'm leaning towards the green version, now that the vinyl top is gone.

More updates from Stamp! They have reworked the deluxe wheel cover, and refined the base wheel and grille. These guys are amazing!! I am VERY happy with these refinements!

@chris I agree with Chris on his viewpoints. Never saw a three stripe tire on a production car.
