Last Thursday I bid on an unusual version of BML 11 Lincoln Zephyr - unusual in that it was gold plated and stated to be one of only 4.
I lost out by one bid. I asked a certain UK collector (yeah, many of you know who he is but I won't name him in print) if he knew anything about it. Turns out, he was my competition! Anyway, he only bid on it as a novelty, which was also my intention. So I asked Simon Elford - he knew nothing about it. Nor did Julie Evans and Darren Mould - surely if these were made in the Nigel era they would have seen something. So is this a clever "Code 3" with counterfeit box labels, or was it a very secretive LE by Brooklin? Anyone ever hear of this one?
Never knew about that model.

It certainly looks cool, although anything is possible.
Funny that no one knew about it. Yet, with all the work and research it would have taken to bring it to fruition at this nice level, it almost doesn't matter until the price of the winning bid is considered.
Well, if Darren and Julie knew nothing about it, I doubt it was a factory issue. Between the two of them, and Simon, one of them would have had hands on that model as it was being produced. The Box would seem to indicate the model came sometime after the Nigel era. It appears to be one of the newer of the new boxes. It's also a most unusual color scheme for a Brooklin.

Yes, the new box gives it away so that Simon should have known about it. A very clever fake perhaps?
BTW, I bid 200 pounds and was just edged out at 220. So close to the price of recent factory issues.
It's so weird someone would make the effort to fake the labels. If it was 1 of 4, where are the other 3? How did it end up at a certain UK auction of non-Brookins? oh well, it's one of the mysteries of life! 🤔
Maybe you should post this on one of the Facebook Brooklin pages. Someone there might know more. At least it would generate some interesting comments.

After speaking to Darren and Neil we don't know anything about these cars.
Not an official Brooklin release it would appear

Hey John K., looks like it is a real, "What If"!
I do not know much about the value of gold plating, but if the gold plating was real, is 220 pounds too low of a price?
