I'm not sure when Solido produced this 1961 Thunderbird with the 2 passenger appearance package, most likely in the early to mid-90s.  It's been in one of my displays for a long time.

So I decided to touch it up just a little, nothing radical, to make it a little more realistic. Oh yes, and repair a factory error that left only half a window on the front right. Here's the process:

I think the biggest change was in using more red on the interior, more original-style chrome on the exterior, affixing license plates, a touch of blackwash on the grill, and replacing that darn window.  (We used to call those windwings.)

So here it is, being admired by a couple of locals, before going back on the shelf for another 30 years or so.

Wow, what a nice transformation David !

It looks, from the smaller pics on my phone, like you picked out the chrome accents on the fender tops and the 'hash marks' on the rear of the fenders. Kudos to you for such a beautiful improvement.

@100ford2003    Thank you, Steve, and all the others for your kind comments.  I confess, Steve, that I use a chrome tape for the fender edging and, less successfully, for the hash marks. To hold the chrome tape in place, especially at the tips, I sprayed the completed body with a clear enamel.

And, no confessions allowed here !

When we modellers find what works best for us, it's a plus for all of us.
