AMC Hornet in 1/43 is out.
A new addition to Jerry Rettig's book I guess. Looks beautiful, although falls outside of my theme... See Ebay #310011140843.
Probably a new model for 007 partworks.
AMC Hornet/ Albert

That Hornet is beautiful,Once the figure driver is removed.
Nice toy but I no longer will buy from China.
That 1/43 AMC Hornet looks pretty cool !
Lead Poisoning or Politics? Both are Bad. Where are we going to get 1/24th & 1/18th at least in 1/43 rd there is availability. I would be willing to pay some more to avoid the China thing but no one is doing it in America anymore. RC2-Importer, 1st Gear-Importer, Liberty Classics-Importer, AutoArt-Importer, Mattel, Maisto-Importers and on & on. How do we force the hand that feeds us? to do them here or Europe? There is a point at which they will not sell either due to available descressionary funds. Read that as impulse funds.
It goes deeper than models just look where your .....
clothes, shoes, linen, household goods, electrical goods etc... are made! And not long from now real cars will be imported from China into NA and Europe!

And as long as the consumers buy goods made there nothing will change.
Actually my problem has been neither politics nor lead poisoning.
It has been the sellers in China who have tried to rip me off or have sent models with pieces missing or taped to the chassis. I just do not trust them.
Sorry, I was away in December
Here's another problem
Their designs are rip offs of mainstream items. At the Detroit show, all the Chinese makers were in the basement. Here's what one of their small hatchbacks looked like:

VW Golf anyone?
Then there was this small SUV that was a ringer for the Jeep Patriot. Why anyone would copy that design, I'm not sure!

I understand the few cars that they've sold here in the states have serious reliability problems.
I've had the same experience Dick has had with purchases and I won't buy from them either.
China models
I believe most of the models available "unboxed" from Chinese sellers on ebay are back door factory rejects. I admit to buying two recently. One of which was a Trofeu Ford Capri with missing decals (which I didn't need fortunately) and the other was the Vanguards Hillman Avenger Tiger which turned up with one of the wheel trims unchromed. As my old mother used to say, "you get what you pay for"
