Karl tipped some of us off to this one, and I scanned through everything. It was a pretty impressive collection (forgot the owner's name) and one of my lots included this like-new Esval '57 Studebaker Provincial wagon. The box says two-tone blue but I think it looks more like Sherwood Green/Surf Green. Do any of you who have this have an opinion on color? Always possible my eyes are playing tricks on me.
We can probably agree that $90 is close to actual retail on this item. But that's what I paid for both lots, consisting of SIX more items, postage and bidder fees included. So it's almost as if I got these free:
The sixth is another Spark Matra from 1974, but awaits application of the Gitanes decals. The FM Stude (with styro container but no outer box) and the MC Model T are duplicates, and will go up for auction soon. In fact, if someone wants to make an offer on either of these, if I accept it I will give 10% to the Zone. The yellow '38 Stude pickup is by Matchbox and the Cortina came from the UK Ford 100th Anniversary set (keeping both). The two Matras will likely replace diecast versions I already had.
BTW, that auction had at least three Inver Bantams in it, and I recall they went for about $300 each. Thanks again to Karl for the tip!
Excellent acquisitions!!
Excellent Harv; acquiring cool models is always a treat, but "stealing them" makes that treat even sweeter! 😜 😜 🤗
Great score Harv!!! I have that Studebaker wagon and love it but agree that it is better described as shades of green.
@mg-harv Yes, it was the James Hutchison collection. And there were 4 Inver Bantams up for auction. They are all now in my collection (see this post). And you’re right. There were some good deals to be had. I also scooped up quite a few Somerville models for well under market value.
