Yesterday I received the 1905 Cadillac from VDM. While I'm an incompetent when it comes to technology, the purpose of this post is how this model came to be a part of my collection. Over three years ago, there was a post about this model on this forum which hit my like button. Long story short, I tried to place an order but because the maker was in the Ukraine, I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to send funds. In comes our leader John Kuvakas to the rescue and the order was placed. Thirty days later Ukraine was invaded by Russia and Vlad, the principal of VDM, and his family was displaced to Germany with no idea whether they would ever see their former home or remnants of his business. At that time Vlad immediately advised me that he would send me a refund for the funds sent which I refused as anyone in these circumstances would certainly need the funds more than me. I couldn't imagine being in that situation myself. Vlad again contacted me saying if it were ever possible, he would make the model for me and again I told him not to worry about the model only he and his families well being. Because of this background, the model will have a very prominent place in my collection along with a brief writeup about the human spirit of this very fine individual.
Congrats my friend. And it says volumes about the character of the man I know too - you! Is this the thread you reference Bob?

It's great to hear such a positive story here. Congratulations to all involved.
That's a lovely story Bob that I wish I could comment on further. However, my anger & outrage regarding that entire situation would manifest in ways that undoubtedly would get me banned for life. My frequent but temporary bans from YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook are proof positive of my utter disgust. You're a good man Bob; your humanity & compassion will never be forgotten.
@perrone1 That's the one Tony. You are a master of recall. Thank you my friend.
Here is Harvey's write-up for MAR Online again with great photos: https://www.maronline.org.uk/vdm-1905-cadillac-osceola-coupe/

Great story and I too applaud you Bob
Great story Bob. It is wonderful that Vlad was able to deliver on his promise.
I am stressed that the Ukraine is still under attack after three years of war. Hopefully a lasting and safe solution can be found that continues the independence and security of this embattled nation.
What a great Cadillac replica and story of remarkable ability and perservation in the face of such a tough and terrible situation.
One thing I learned in my university undergraduate and graduate History studies is the absolute truth of the statement : "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it."
@michaeldetorrice That is probably the most important you learned in your history classes.

It definitely was. Perhaps in a way though, it may be a recurrent theme down throughout history. But at least collecting and admiring small cars allows one to inhabit and enjoy a more controlled and ordered ......and peaceful world !
May be the only model I will not remove from case.
That is gorgeous! The more I stare at it, the more I appreciate it; congratulations Llyod (...and Vlad! ).
