This model was discussed on the Forum a few weeks ago but when I went hunting for one the eBayers who snapped up the early releases had all sold out, so I expected it would be a case of paying over the odds for a "hard to find" model, or forget it. But last week I found that an eBay store in Spain had received another batch of 20 - and 19 had gone. I got the last one for a very reasonable 20 Euros plus 10 Euros shipping, and it arrived yesterday.
Some online photos made this model look a bit toy-like with crude gold transfers for the contrasting colour, but in the metal is is actually quite subtly done. Test reports describe the contrasting colour as "light tan" but online pics make it look anywhere from a soft metallic sand to a harsh gold, so I have to asume that the Ixo interpretation is reasonably accurate. It falls just on the OK side of being garish (the same being true of the 1:1 version, of course).
Overall body shape and detailing look fine. Wheels are OK. Raised white lettering on the tyres would be too much to expect on a budget model. The interior is simple but adequate.
My only other model of a Chrysler Corp "fuselage" body is Neo's 1970 Imperial, which is handsome enough but the side windows are too vertical and flat - the Ixo captures the fuselage curvature of the greenhouse sides a little better.
A few days ago Mike DeTorrice posted pics of the AMC Rebel from the same series. That looks pretty appealing as well but at the moment the early releases (grabbed by the same eBay outfits that cornered the market for the Hurst) are sold out so I'll have to keep looking for the next batch to appear.

Thanks for a well-thought-out review, Graeme. Great pics.

Thanks to getting a heads-up on this one and the 70 AMC Rebel from fellow Loungers I was just able to buy these two at a fairly reasonable price from an ebay seller in Spain with an excellent feedback record. My impression from comments is that they are pretty good value for money. Thanks guys!
You are a lucky man, Graeme. Today I celebrate one month since my order of the Chrysler was last scanned in Spain. No movement, no accountability, no nothing. I will have a difficult time enjoying it after such a frustrating buying experience. AND, on top of that, shipping to the US cost more than the model.
Everything comes to he who waits.
Or not.
Good luck. I suspect it's the same seller, and mine took about 2 weeks from placing the order.

I find the Ebay quoted shipping from various vendors in various European countries and Russia to the USA can vary dramatically. I do not know all the reasons for this. Perhaps some countries are offering reasonable and competitive mailing rates to encourage export business? But I do know when I send something out of the country (USA) the international shipping scheme offered by Ebay is not competitive with simply taking it to the post office and mailing it. Comments?

It's not just to the USA that shipping varies a lot. Post-Brexit some European vendors (not just eBay) seem to be taking advantage of the fact that the UK is now a "foreign country" to double their shipping rates. Same package weight, same courier, twice the price. This particular seller in Spain hasn't done that. Not yet, anyway. But major vendors are now adding UK Value Added Tax automatically at source, which puts 20% on the price of a model and makes buying from Europe less advantageous for me.

I sometimes email European sellers when the quoted shipping costs appear ridiculous. I give them the name of the town/city and postal code where it will be shipped and ask them to provide the cheapest possible cost. It is usually by international postal service. Sometimes they get back to me with a lower amount. Be careful when purchasing from dealers in Italy. I have ordered from Italian dealers on eBay who show lowest prices and shipping costs only to find that they ship by Fedex. In the most recent case,I paid the seller $25.18 Canadian to ship only to find out that they ship it within Italy to a central depot. Fedex then takes over and acts as a broker and pays the taxes to the Canadian Govn't on any purchase over $25. in addition to their their handling charges which in this case was an additional $23.61 that I had to pay upon delivery. This system is similar to the Global Shipping Program between Canada and the US but it is not disclosed on the Ebay listing. Only says additional duty, taxes, etc may apply. I will no longer purchase cars from Italy. I don't know how dealers in Hong Kong can offer free shipping and also sell the car at the same price as US sellers. Canadians are pretty much forced to buy out of country because there are very few online Canadian sellers. The ones that I know operate eBay stores only.
I love the lines of that year 300 and the Hurst livery is surprisingly tastefully done. When I came back from the army in '71, my father-in-law splurged on this 300 with the rationalization that this would be his last car and, unfortunately, it was.
One correction - those were my photos, not Mike's. Put yer glasses on Ogg!
