The Maserati 3500GT, with Superleggera bodywork by Touring, appeared late in 1957. Mercury's road car replica appeared in 1963, and sports opening hood and trunk. Yjet included a little surprise for the trunk, a plastic bag containing 4 luggage items, golf clubs, and tiny galoshes. I am told that having a complete set of these items in an unopened bag makes this diecast quite valuable.
Mercury decided to get some more mileage out of this casting, so simulated wire wheels were added, the bumpers were ditched and a part containing dual exhaust tips replaced the rear bumper, and the paint was changed to red with silver accents and several decals. This became No. 34 - the end of the No. 24 box was stamped to show the difference, but there was no change to the baseplate casting.
Great information in this post Harv. Wonderful boxed models to have in your collection.
