In the 40s and early 50s the fastback style captured the interest of the American Automakers and for a few years seemed to be popular with the car buyers. Almost every automaker issued this type of model in their lineup.

Here's a couple by Brooklin Models.

1941 Pontiac Torpedo Streamliner Sedan Coupe

1941 Pontiac Torp StrmL Cpe 0
1941 Pontiac Torp StrmL Cpe 1
1941 Pontiac Torp StrmL Cpe 4
1941 Pontiac Torp StrmL Cpe 5
1941 Pontiac Torp StrmL Cpe 6
1941 Pontiac Torp StrmL Cpe 7

1942 Oldsmobile B-44 Custom Cruiser 98 Club Sedan

1942 Oldsmobile B44 CC 98 CS G0
1942 Oldsmobile B44 CC 98 CS G1
1942 Oldsmobile B44 CC 98 CS G4
1942 Oldsmobile B44 CC 98 CS G5
1942 Oldsmobile B44 CC 98 CS G6
1942 Oldsmobile B44 CC 98 CS G7

@moe-parr I had a small collection of Brooklin models years ago that I adored. I collected lots of different brands and scales, but I always felt that the Brooklyn’s were in a class by themselves. They reminded me of the old Dinky’s in a way that they were not overly detailed, but were perfection in their own way. I always regret parting with them, especially my favorite piece, a gray ‘37 Pontiac Coupe. It was special to me as my Dad inherited a ‘37 Pontiac 2 door sedan from his aunt in the ‘60’s. Thanks for sharing, and for stirring up fond memories John!

I'd say, that's a fair assessment of Brooklin  models with the exception of the NB Center releases.

Have both, love both. I don't necessarily agree with the early Brooklins not being overly detailed. In many instances the details were painted over which made the models affordable to more collectors. A late friend used to scrape my early Brooklins and made gems out of them. For instance, the Brooklin 54 Chevy hardtop stands up well against the 53 MOC.

@bob-jackman I want to follow-up on your reply. I started collecting Brooklin models about 10 years ago. At that time there were only a few models I was interested in due to chrome parts being painted. Many had very accurate body castings, but not having the skill to do the scraping or knowing someone who could limited my purchases. However, Brooklin models were improving with increased level of detail. By the late teens, models such as the 1954 Cadillac, 1957 Chevrolet, and 1956 Buick were great improvements and IMO are comparable to other more expensive white metal models. Of course NB Center models are exceptional, but non-NB Center models such as Packard Caribbean and recent BCC club models are also beautiful models. For those who look at my Brooklin in Illinois posts, just look at the recent ones.

This is one of my very favorite Brooklins. I always felt that it represents some of their best work.

@jmullinax

I agree, it is an excellent model and one of the 1st three Brooklin models I purchased in 2014. It is why I have continued to look into and purchase each one in my Brooklin Model Collection. My latest Brooklin model arrived last week and was the 975th model added.

@jmullinax I also have one of these. I agree with your assessment. It is one of the earliest Brooklin hardtop models from the 1950’s, which had plated parts for all the window trim and many other items.

@jcarnutz I think when you reach number 999, Brooklin should give you a model with a nice engraved plaque stating 1,000.

@bob-jackman I never meant to put a negative bent on the Brooklin models, I probably had a dozen or less and loved them all. I can remember about a handful that I owned without doing any research, I was in my full pre-medicated bi-polar mode and collecting all makes, models, and scales of all things with wheels. Aside from said Pontiac, I had a ‘53 Buick, a LaSalle, a ‘63 Vette, and a ‘40 Cadillac, (my brain hurts). In my opinion the models were more of an artists representation of the auto than a technicality accurate model, and I thought of that as a good thing. The castings must have been 1/8” thick to make a 5” model weigh a pound. They were very special to me then and I appreciate and respect them still! The models you are posting are absolutely gorgeous!
