This past weekend I attended the 2nd Annual Orphan Car Show @ the Gilmore Car Museum. There were probably about 50 or so cars assembled on the grounds with most representing one of the Orphan makes from the past. While I think the show was a bit bigger than last year's event, it still doesn't come anywhere close to the cars that used to gather at the show in Ypsilanti, Michigan's Riverside Park. Covid brought an end to the show as a regular annual event, I believe it was held once or twice more, which I was unable to attend, but I'm not sure. The show was sponsored by the Ypsilanti Heritage Museum, and they chose to discontinue the show for several reasons. Viewer participation, the cost of putting the show on and the number of volunteers required along with some concerns of the Riverside Park Authority brought it to an end. Stahl's Automotive Collection started the theme show up again last year, I'm hoping in its 2nd year the show will have more participation from Orphan Marques.
I'm going to post an occasional photo set in the Forum as I have time to finish them up - a post is there now, check it out.
To celebrate those Orphan Marques, I chose a model from my photos to represent a brand from the 30s to the 60s
THE 1930's: 1938 Packard Twelve Model 1607 Victoria Convertible Coupe - Automodello
THE 1940's: 1941 Plymouth Special DeLuxe Wood-Bodied Wagon - Conquest Models
THE 1950's: 1959 DeSoto Fireflite Convertible - WMCE
THE 1960's: 1969 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser Station Wagon - Goldvarg Collection

....nice little group of misfits John. 😉 😉 😉
Nice set of models. I still miss some of these brands.

You can park that Packard in my driveway, if you want. Beautiful set of wheels.
Thanks John. All four brands contributed substantially to the automobile industry in the USA for many years.
I’ve always liked the Vista Cruiser Olds. Especially when Mrs.Pederson (H.S. teacher I had a crush on) drove one 😎
