A very cool model of a very cool, well known, race car! 😎 😎 😎 I've never seen this before.... wheels turn, doors open, seats fold back...wow-wee. I thought possibly that top-mounted light might work.... but I don't see where a battery might go.

@chris Chris, spot light doesn't light up just rotates - model also had spring suspension - very useful for a rally car going over East African 1:42nd scale dioramas!

I have this one in my collection as well and love it.
@mg-harv Harv, shame Dinky Toys didn't provide a charging elephant or at least a galloping giraffe with this model. If so it would have made a perfect companion with Corgi Toys VW East African Safari Rally which was supplied with a charging rhino.

@chris-sweetman Corgi always did have more of a tendency to include figures and various themes to their models back in the day.

I did have the Hillman Hunter with Take-Off Wheels as a kid, but never the VW 1200 East African Safari. I do have it now courtesy of the Corgi Model Club! Corgi had some great animals! 😎
@chris I'm reminded of a Dinky Toys Cadillac Superior ambulance that had a neat mechanism comprising a cylindrical connector between battery and light conductor that was set off-centre on an axle that rotated with the wheels, so that - theoretically, at least - the light would flash as you bruummed it along! I also had a BMW with indicators that similarly connected when pressure was applied, turning this way or that.
Those Dinky Cortinas look excellent and a very good release in their series. The Hillman and VW are also fine examples in this line from them.
