Recently added these military vehicles to my international military shelves.  One is a GMC DUKW a six wheeled amphibious machine, half huge truck and half boat,   About 21,000 were made.  Model are by Militaria and both come with a small flyer providing specifications and history details.  This DUKW looks like the most ungainly creature of the water and road.  Powered by a gasoline GMC 270 in line six cylinder engine with only 91 horse power but reported could do 50 MPH on land and 6 MPH in the water and carry up to 25 troops or 2.5 tons of cargo with a crew of two.

And this much smaller amphibian, a Ford GPA, also Militaria, more Jeep sized and powered by a four cylinder 60 horsepower gasoline engine, crew was 2 to 4 and up to 4 troops.  Speed 50 MPH on land, 4 MPH in water.  Over 12,000 were produced.

Also shown is a White M16 gun carriage half track (Atlas Editions)  of which 3550 were built powered by a White 128 horsepower six cylinder gasoline engine giving a maximum speed of 41 MPH.

All models show exceptional detail including the undercarriage and some strapped on Jerry cans and are billed as 43rd scale although the DUKW dwarfs the other two.

I have many 1/18 WW II replicas but because a GMC DUKW is not commercially available, I don't have one, but would like to. I've often theorized that should I ever decide to scratch-build a 1/18 DUKW, I'd first purchase a 1/43 or 1/35 model to serve as references, then "scale up."
