Many of you have been inquiring about the status of the limited edition GLM 1968 Chrysler 300s in black and burgundy. The only update I can provide is that there is no update yet.
As you are probably aware, the uncertainty surrounding the ever-changing tariff situation has completely hosed the plan that GLM and I agreed to well over a year ago regarding having these two colors be exclusive to TOYCARGEEK.
It pains me to no end that I am forced to back out of an agreement with anyone, but there is no other option. I could not have foreseen the magnitude of this problem when we started this project way back in early 2024.
The tariffs (at today's 30% rate) will increase my upfront costs by thousands of dollars, which is unfeasible. The higher sales price needed to recoup my investment will undoubtedly mean slower sales, and that will mean a slower return on my investment. That is a big hit for a small company. Even though the response to these two colors has been overwhelmingly positive, I simply cannot risk having a bunch of expensive leftovers if the higher price deters a large number of buyers.
The tariffs have already taken a huge bite out of my sales this year, so it would be foolhardy for me to take that kind of risk.
While I would love for these to be TOYCARGEEK exclusives, I told GLM that I will gladly forego that exclusivity to get these released to collectors. They will still be limited edition models, even if they are sold by a number of different dealers.
It is also possible that GLM could offer these as an exclusive to another dealer to sell the whole lot at once. While that would certainly be disappointing to me, I will understand 100% if GLM decides to take this route. They have invested a ton of time and money into this project, and they need to get a return on their investment too.
I will continue to work with GLM to figure out how to get these released for sale to collectors as soon as possible, and will update everyone as soon as this is resolved. They have their hands full right now with other projects, so we'll have to be patient. The tariffs are wreaking havoc with their business too, so as collectors we need to be understanding and supportive.
These are beautifully crafted models, and I promise they will be worth waiting for!

Thanks a lot Dave for keeping us in the loop. Unlike a lot of manufacturers/suppliers who have remained silent.
Very sorry to hear this, Dave. This tariff circus act is ruining a lot of businesses.
Thanks Ken. The wholesalers are, for the most part, communicating this to their dealers, but not a lot of dealers are passing the information along to their customers. I want to do the best job I can to keep my customers up to speed. Silence is very dangerous right now. Thanks a lot Dave for keeping us in the loop. Thanks Mark. Absolutely. It is affecting many businesses regardless of size. Sadly, the end user is going to be paying for it in most cases. I know a lot of people are waiting on these models, so I wanted to be transparent about what is going on.Very sorry to hear this, Dave. This tariff circus act is ruining a lot of businesses.

Thanks for the info, I'm one of those that was waiting. I sure hope that things will work out in a positive manner for all concerned. Being in retail, I am fully aware of this tariff crisis, the prices of imported goods that I sell has been in chaos for weeks. Without entering into a topic that is best left alone, I sure hope calmer minds and attitudes will eventually prevail before we are all seriously affected by the whole mess.
In the big picture, these models are insignificant, it's the common items that we all buy every day that will affect everyone more profoundly if this continues.

Dave we appreciate your candidness. I think most of us are aware of the turmoil the tariffs are causing, not only in our model cars, but to the economy in general. Hopefully there will be a settling down and business can resume in a way that is acceptable to all concerned.

Agreed. You need to buy food, clothes, and shoes before you can spend a bunch on money on your hobby. One of the big factors I am taking into account is the number of people that will be forced into spending their (formerly) discretionary income on necessities.

Thanks Bob. I want to keep everyone in the loop, even if it is bad news. Nobody likes being ghosted after waiting a year for something!

As I've noted before - discussing these ***** ** * ** ** tariffs will result in the "end of Chris Moroni" among these Forums. So, 🤐 🤐 🤐 🤐 🤐 🤐 & 🤐 🤐
However, I can say that GLM's 1968 Chryslers are SO nice that I'm NOW looking at 1:1 '68 Chryslers in a whole new light. Until now, I've never really appreciated them nor had much interest.
In my book, that's quite a compliment to GLM. 😎 😎 😎 Thanks for the pics, Dave.
GLMs standard releases in sky blue & frost green are exceptional. I sure hope the maroon & black versions are eventually made available.

Are the "standard" blue and green colors available for purchase yet and if so, where?
Also, I think these would look better with "vinyl" tops, but with or without, this is an absolute MUST-HAVE for me!

I had requested them some time ago from Dave @ToyCarGeek. He got a few in and I was given an option to purchase. The price is higher than previously released models, but still acceptable for me. Unfortunately, I believe is he sold out of the few that were secured. I've seen them available from a few eBay sellers, including Hobby43 Models. Albert Kopans is a great guy to do business with, and I believe he is a member of Forum 43.
