NEO Mercedes
I was browsing Dave Sinclair's miniauto.com website last week and found a 1955 Mercedes 300B Pininfarina coupe in two-tone metallic green, from what was described as a new company in the Netherlands, NEO. Got it today, and I'm besides myself with joy...especially since it cost me $69.! I personally think it's stunning, right down to the photo-etched metal, and woodgrain interior details.
Joe, I have a fairly large (139 1:43's) Mercedes collection.
I have four of the Neo Mercedes'. They are made for them by Spark and I consider them to be among the best model bargains out there. In the not too distant future the line may expand to include some American cars. Their entire line may be seen at: NEO SCALE MODELS.
You mean THIS one? (PIC)
I completely agree. We'll be covering a lot of Neo in the coming months.
PICS That's the best one but the others are pretty good.
Here's my next favorite...

I've looked at this one a few times, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Aren't the headlights on this model huge? Or is it just some optical illusion?
They look immense in the photo.
Opinions from owners eagerly solicited.
Rick Headlights?
Rick,
The model in person is awesome, The headlighst to me look well done and very accurate, That photo makes them look not correct.
Shel
Thanks...in the photo, they're almost the same size as the wheels!
The headlights were large on the 1956 300S & this one is a custom by Pininfarina.
Thanks, Dick. I know it's a custom by Pininfarina, but I wanted to be more certain that the headlights are faithful to the original car. I could live
with them if that's the way they were on the real car; I couldn't if they were
made that large by mistake.
The model looks very nice and the paint is gorgeous...I just couldn't get past
those huge eyes but it's better now knowing that they were meant to be that
way.
A Mercedes from another time . . .
As I admired the pictures of your beautiful NEO Mercedes, I remembered one of the few in my small collection of parade vehicles.

It's only a Rio, and it doesn't start to have the details of the NEOs, but with its figures and size, it has a lot of impact. Rio used the same car in several different ways, but this one is my favorite.
Thank you for informing me about the NEO line.
M-B 300Sc, etc.
It's funny the little things that can be a turn-off; I agree the headlights look way too big (almost thick) on an otherwise gorgeous effort. These 300's of the era are incredible luxury Touring Cars.

I think I'll pass on that model (for now), not the first time I've avoided a buy because of a pesky detail.
Gotta love Rio's for what they are; just got this one in the last month for a song.
It's the 1960 M-B 300d "Adenauer" Conv. Sedan for Pope John XXIII. Note the Throne.

David, my Grosser Mercedes is missing der Fuhrer und Mussolini, but I've had it since the early-'80's.

prototype headlights
I found multi-view photos of the "real thing" via a Google search. The headlights seem "right-on". I think they appear large due to the liberal use of chrome trim around them.
Tom, the headlights are correct.
