New addition - NEO '56 Pontiac Star Chief (PICS)

Found this brand-new on eBay from a dealer in England for about $48 US including shipping! And it arrived safely in only 8 days. Very pleased with this latest addition to my growing collection of 1/43's.photo no longer available

I admire that model too. Often they make two different choices in the color scheme when a new model is offered. Is there another anyone has seen? And is the black border in the windshield some sort of regular thing they do? I've seen that a lot.

Barry, I can very well understand your been pleased with this model, since I'm first of all a Buick & Pontiac collector, and this model is also a nice link to my Pontiac range!

56 Pontiac

Hi Barry; I bought one of these to possibly make it better. Mine is a third color, Gold rear with an Ivory front. By carefully scraping the gold color from the wheels just leaving a small gold line for the wheel it gets rid of the dog dish hubcaps. Also painting the white boot cover and steering wheel Ivory to match the front it looks as good as any Motor City model.

3rd time I've bought from overseas and all good experiences with both price and shipping time!

The "chrome" trim looks especially good on this model.

I wonder if hubcaps were even available on the top-of-the-line Star Chief?

No, they weren't. Star Chiefs came with full wheelcovers as standard equipment.

This model is also missing the three red reflectors in the chrome trim piece forward of the taillights. Those things, and the black windshield band, are the reasons why this convertible isn't in my Pontiac collection. Also missing is the small chrome trim piece above the front wheels, where the two colors meet.

I'm hoping for a good Star Chief convertible one of these days, but I don't know if one will ever be done!

But that "Star Chief" script on the front doors is a work of art!

Don, I have NEO's '57 Cadillac conv. and it has the black band on the windshield too.
