Regarding "special interest" oddities and rarities released by outfits like Autocult could I raise the suggestion of a Packard Predictor? The car featured in recent posts (relating to cars with reverse-slant rear rooflines), which brought it back to mind.

With its curious mix of late '50s Lincoln/Mercury slab-sided bodywork, '58-'60 Continental rear roof pillars, '58 Cadillac rear fins, '59 Ford/GM wrap-over/wrap-around windscreen, a front end that is part-Edsel and part '70s Pontiac, the T'Bird portholes, and even those Nash-style semi-concealed front wheels, there seems to be a bit of everything past, present and future thrown in there. An interesting beast.

And yes, I do know that GADM did one years ago, and that some of you lucky people have one, and as a product of its time it still looks pretty good, although in close-up there is an older-style white metal heaviness about some of the detailing

But for those who don't have one, you won't come across one every day, and judging by occasional eBay sales and other auction results, if you did find one you could be paying anything up to $500 for it.

So it looks like an ideal opportunity for one of the small-scale, high-quality model producers to fill a gap at a more accessible price point and with a modern standard of crisp detailing. It may be a vehicle of relatively limited general
appeal, but no more so than some of the other "oddities" that people like Autocult are offering the special-interest collector.

People do post wish lists here from time to time, so I just thought I would throw this one in and see if anyone takes the bait.

Seems like Matrix would be the better candidate. They did the Panther Daytona and the 120 Vignale.

GADM Predictor

Phil Alderman, who developed the original GADM models, told me that the biggest issue he had at the time involved adding the correct amount and type of fish scales to the paint to get the proper finish to the model.

Later production runs of that model after he sold off GADM to a new owner had a simpler white finish, without the depth of Phil's original production batch. (So be careful if you are tempted by a secondary market GADM piece...)

Minichamps did a great job of handling the similar paint issues on their Lincoln Futura a few years ago.

So I would think whomever is smart enough to remake the Predictor could manage these days to get the paint correct.

Graeme is right, I believe...and I hereby 'predict' that an Autocult or Matrix Packard Predictor would sell out as quickly as the Matrix Chrysler Turbine did.

Let's just hope two or three of them don't all get the same idea at the same time.

That model is going to be release in a cheaper version from a partwork collection, but I think I'll get the Autocult.

Good info, John. I have just posted this one, alongside another, on the forum. They are two of my favorites!
